On August 17th, SMAP�s disaster relief album �SMAP AID� was released and sold 102,000 copies in its first day, topping the charts for Oricon Daily Album Ranking. Since their 1995 album release of �COOL� (total sale of 684,000 units) to 2010�s �We are SMAP!� (total sale of 273,000 units), their albums have topped 11 consecutive times on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking chart.

This album is based on their top 15 songs that were voted by their fans at a special voting site titled, �Minna wo Yuuki Zukeru SMAP no Kyoku (SMAP�s Songs That Gives Courage)�. In addition, a handkerchief is included in this album (either a �Shiawase no YELLOW-AID� or �Genki no RED-AID�). 200 yen from every album will be donated through Marching J, a earthquake relief project.

Furthermore, on September 9th, they will hold an event at the wave pool located in Seibuen Amusement Park in Saitama aimed for the buyers of this album. 10,000 fans can be selected to participate in this event for free through a lottery from the purchase of this album.
