It's been revealed that actress�Kawashima Umika will be starring in the upcoming NHK drama special, "Akko to Bokura ga Ikita Natsu".

The drama is based on a non-fiction novel that was released in 2011.�It's�story focuses on the bond between a high school baseball team and their manager.

The team manager Akko (played by Kawashima) loves baseball and has always been the backbone the team. In her second year of high school, in June of 2007, she was diagnosed with cancer. That summer, the team makes their first appearance in the�Koshien baseball tournament, and advances into the top 8. With the team's support, Akko endures the painful cancer treatment, believing that someday she will return to her grounds. However, Akko passes away before her 18th birthday.

This will be Kawashima's second time to take a lead role in a drama. As her last year of high school, Kawashima will portray the value and nobility of life, along with the importance of family and friends.

"Akko to Bokura ga Ikita Natsu" will broadcast on April 14th and the 21st.
