Today it was announced that the incredibly popular drama and movie series "Odoru Daisosasen" (English title: "Bayside Shakedown") will once again return to the small screen before releasing its final chapter, "Odoru Daisosasen The Final" in theaters, September this year.

Fuji TV is going to air a drama special called "Odoru Daisosasen The TV Special" short before the movie hits the theaters. Unlike the spin-off drama specials in 2005 and 2006, it's going to be set at the fictional Wangan Precinct again and feature the main characters of the series. One month before the events in the upcoming movie, detective Aoshima Shunsaku (Oda Yuji) and his colleagues are preparing for the wedding of detective Oh (Takito Kenichi), when an internationally wanted marriage swindler sets foot in Japan. The swindler will be played by South Korean actress Lee Hae In.

It's been 14 years since the main cast of the series graced the small screen. In the meantime, several highly successful movies continued the series, but the producer is confident that they will manage to get back to its roots just fine. "'Odoru Daisosasen' started as a TV series," he said. "The special is going to become like a compilation of the original series and will offer the best entertainment possible."

They are currently filming both the movie and the drama special at the same time.

Oda commented, "It's going to make you laugh, make you shed tears, and give you a warm and cozy feeling! You'll only have to wait a little longer for more details."

Since the series always has been focused on continuity throughout the movies, it's a given that the drama special is going to be a must-see for all of its fans.

"Odoru Daisosasen The Final" is scheduled to open in September. A date for "Odoru Daisosasen The TV Special" has yet to be announced by Fuji TV.
