In the July issue of manga magazine 'Cookie', it was revealed that popular series “Akazukin Chacha” will be serialized again for the first time in 12 years! The re-serialization of the series will begin in the August issue of Cookie, which is hitting shelves on June 26. The new series, called “Akazukin Chachan N”, is set in Tokyo.

Manga “Akazukin Chacha” was a popular comic written by Ayahana Min, and was serialized on “Ribon” from 1992 – 2000. The original series was set at a school in a fantasy world, Urara Gakuen, and told the adventures of a young magical girl Chacha and her childhood friend Riiya. This series ended with the release of its 13th volume. In addition, two one-shots were published in the May 2011 and January 2012 issues of Cookie as well.

The anime of this series was broadcast on TV Tokyo back in ’94 and ’95, and features voice actress Suzuki Masami as Chacha and SMAP’s Katori Shingo as Riiya. The opening theme song of the anime adaptation, SMAP’s “Kimiiro Omoi”, was made popular through this series.
