Fukuyama Masaharu's latest single tops the Oricon chart
Singer and actor Fukuyama Masaharu released his 30th single "Tanjoubi ni wa Masshiro na Yuri wo/Get the groove" on April 10th, and the single topped Oricon's weekly single chart after selling 109,000 copies in the first week.
This marked Fukuyama's 7th consecutive (and 16th in total) single to top the chart since "Keshin" that was released in May 2009. With this single, his number of consecutive years to top the chart has been increased to 5 consecutive years. Fukuyama is now the 4th male solo artist to achieve this after Kondo Masahiko (during 1981~1985), Tahara Toshihiko (during 1980~1985), and Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi (during 1988~1993).
He has also renewed his own record for the total number of chart topping singles (for singer songwriters) raising it up to 16 singles, which is followed by Utada Hikaru with 12 singles.
