The story of the drama adaptation will be linked to its upcoming film, which is slated for release in this summer. The drama version will depict the solders' daily lives and their secrets, mainly the episodes that could not be shown enough in the film.
Along with Ishihara's "Hans," other characters including "Sasha" (Sakuraba Nanami), "Fukushi" (Watanabe Shu), "Lil" (Takeda Rina), "Hiana" (Mizusaki Ayame), and more will make appearances, and it was announced that Hiraoka Yuta would be joining them as the new character for the drama version as well. The staff members will also be the same as the movie, including director Higuchi Shinji.
The drama version of "Shingeki no Kyojin" will begin distributing on a flat-rate system video distribution service "dTV" (currently called "dVideo", but will be renewed on April 22) starting in August, while its film version will be released as a two-part movie on August 1 (Part 1) and on September 19 (Part 2).
