On December 17th, AKB48's sister group JKT48 held their first performance through a TV broadcast in Indonesia. Wearing original uniform-style costumes, the girls covered AKB48's hit song, "Heavy Rotation", in Indonesian. The following day,the group held two handshake events at a shopping center in Jakarta.
Member Melody Nurramdhani Laksani commented, "I was very happy. After practicing a lot, we were finally able to hold a performance. This was our first performance, but we still have a long way to go. We will do our best." Shania Juniantha alsoexpressed, "I was happy, but I was nervous. I was very happy to receive the audience and fans' encouragement. I'm thankful for my family who has supported me."
The auditions for JKT48 were held in Indonesia, and its first generation members were revealed back in November. The group is produced by AKB48 mastermindAkimoto Yasushi, and has the same concept of "idols you can meet".
