On July 18, actor Ihara Tsuyoshi (48) and actress Tokiwa Takako (40) appeared at Space FS Shiodome in Tokyo for the Japanese premiere of the Brazilian film Coraes Sujos or Dirty Hearts (directed by Vicente Amorim, opens July 21).
The film is set in Brazil right after World War II and depicts the true story of a rivalry between Japanese immigrants: "Kachi-gumi (winning group)", who believed Japan's victory in the war, and "Make-gumi (losing group)", who accepted the fact of Japan's submission. The film was filmed entirely in Brazil, and Ihara stated earnestly that As far as it is (from Japan), I felt that it captured the sentiment toward [Japan] strongly.
At the time, due to the break up of diplomatic relations betweenBrazil and Japan, it was difficult to obtain accurate information. Tokiwa reflected on this and stated, I thought that the scariest thing back then was the regulation of reports. Because of that, feelings of insecurity were agitated, and [the regulation of reports] is still scary even at present.
