It's been announced that NEWS member Tegoshi Yuya will not be participating in Johnny's & Associates' charity song "smile."

"smile" will be sung by Twenty★Twenty, a special unit comprised of 15 Johnny's groups. This unit was formed as a part of 'Johnny's Smile Up! Project' to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. 

The other day, some weekly magazines reported that Tegoshi attended a party with several women at a restaurant in Tokyo last month. After confirming the facts, there were some differences with what had been published, but Tegoshi admitted to going out and hanging out with women. With the State of Emergency Declaration in effect, Johnny's & Associates had ordered their talents to refrain from nonessential outings. In addition, they have been encouraging fans and citizens to "STAY HOME" through the 'Smile Up! Project.' As such, Tegoshi has been removed from participating in "smile." Johnny's & Associates commented, "To fans and everyone concerned, please accept our sincere apologies."
