It's been announced that former AKB48 member Watanabe Mayu's contract with Production Ogi expired on May 31, and she'll be retiring from showbiz. 

An announcement on her agency's website states, "We received a notice from Watanabe Mayu that it has become difficult for her to continue working in showbiz due to health reasons. She has not been feeling well over the past several years, and although we had many discussions regarding this, we have decided to prioritize her health, and respecting her wishes, her contract with Production Ogi has expired on May 31. She will also be ending her career in showbiz." 

They continued, "We are sincerely sorry to everyone who has cheered her on over the years for this sudden announcement, but we ask for your continued support. Thank you very much."
