On July 22, Johnny's & Associates announced that TOKIO's Nagase Tomoya will be leaving the company next March. The remaining group members Joshima Shigeru, Kokubun Taichi, and Matsuoka Masahiro will establish a company called TOKIO on April 1, 2021 as an associated company Johnny's Group.
According to Johnny's & Associates, Nagase will not belong to any company, but plan to do behind-the-scenes work. As for TOKIO, Joshima will serve as president, and Kokubun and Matsuoka as vice presidents. While managing their company, they plan to carry out their activities both as a group and solo more freely.
TOKIO made their CD debut in 1994 and have been active as a band for 26 years. Johnny's commented, "To fans and persons concerned, we apologize for the sudden announcement. However, please warmly watch over the TOKIO members as they challenge themselves to new things in their lives."
