It's been announced that actress Kuroshima Yuina will play the heroine in NHK's 2022 morning drama 'Chimudondon.'
2022 marks 50 years since Okinawa was returned to Japan. An original screenplay by Habara Daisuke, 'Chimudondon' will be set prior to Okinawa's return. Kuroshima will play Higa Nobuko, a girl who was born and raised on a farm in Hinabita-mura of the Yanbaru Region. Nobuko lives with her mother and three siblings. She lost her father when she was in elementary school, so to support her working mother, she is in charge of the cooking at home. She loves to eat delicious food and becomes obsessed with Western cuisine when she tries it for the first time. Eventually, she moves to Tokyo aiming to become a chef.
Kuroshima commented, "This is my 3rd morning drama, but I never thought that I would play the heroine, so it's hard to believe. But somewhere in my heart, I wanted to someday." She continued, "I am looking forward to how the heroine Nobuko grows through cooking."
The drama is scheduled to begin filming this fall, and will broadcast next spring.
