It's been reported that rock band The Birthday vocalist and guitarist Chiba Yusuke passed away on November 26th. He was 55 years old. 

Universal Music released the announcement on the 5th stating, "He had been continuing intensive treatment aiming for recovery, but passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023 with his family watching over him." His funeral service has already been held with family and members of the band. 

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Chiba made his debut as the vocalist of thee michelle gun elephant in 1996. Since disbanding in 2003, he had been active in numerous bands such as ROSSO, MIDNIGHT BANKROBBERS, The Birthday, and THE GOLDEN WET FINGERS. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in April and had been devoting himself to treatment since.
