On December 12, Yoshimoto Kogyo officially declared on their website that the comedic duo "Wagyu," consisting of Shinji Mizuta and Kenshiro Kawanishi, will disband by the end of March 2024.
According to the official statement, Shinji Mizuta and Kenshiro Kawanishi will continue their paths individually while remaining with the same agency. Both comedians are primarily active in Tokyo.
Expressing gratitude to fans and stakeholders, the announcement acknowledged the significant support received throughout Wagyu's journey, seeking ongoing support for both members.
The decision to disband was triggered by Mizuta's repeated tardiness about three years ago, coupled with differences in their comedic approach, creating a gap in their collaboration. The challenges led to a struggle in maintaining the enjoyable nature of their performances.
In personal messages, Mizuta expressed determination to continue bringing laughter to supporters, while Kawanishi acknowledged the uncertainties ahead and requested increased support.
The disbandment marks the end of an era for "Wagyu," with both comedians set to embark on individual journeys within the entertainment industry.
