KLP48,AKB48's newest sister group outside of Japan, has formed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

AKB48 currently has six overseas sister groups: JKT48 (Jakarta, Indonesia), BNK48 (Bangkok, Thailand), MNL48 (Manila, Philippines), AKB48 Team SH (Shanghai, China), AKB48 Team TP (Taipei, Taiwan), and CGM48 (Chiang Mai, Thailand). More details on KLP48 will be revealed via the group's official website and social media accounts. 

It was also announced that Terada Nariaki, the CEO of Superball Inc. (the operating company of AKB48 overseas sister groups), has been appointed as the general producer of the Overseas 48 Groups.
