Actor Yuma Nakayama is set to leave his agency, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, on January 31, 2025. The news was officially announced on August 22 through the agency’s website.

In a statement released via the site, Nakayama shared his thoughts on the decision: “I have decided to step out from the comfortable and blessed environment I’ve been in, to take a step forward for a richer life and to aim higher as an artist.”

Nakayama joined the agency in 2006 and was quickly recognized by the agency's founder, Johnny Kitagawa, for his talent. He made his acting debut as the lead in NHK's drama "Battery" in 2008 and gained further recognition in 2009 as a member of the group "NYC boys," performing alongside talents such as Ryosuke Yamada and Yuri Chinen. Since 2012, he has primarily focused on his solo career, particularly in acting.

The announcement from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT emphasized their respect for Nakayama's desire to challenge himself in a new, more demanding environment. They will hold a grand farewell for Nakayama during his live tour, scheduled for January 2025.

In his message to fans and colleagues, Nakayama expressed his determination to continue growing as an artist: "This marks a significant turning point and a great challenge in my life, but my goals remain unchanged. I will continue striving to be an artist that everyone can enjoy."

Nakayama's departure marks the end of an era, but his journey toward new artistic heights is just beginning.

Message from Yuma Nakayama:

"To all the fans and associates who have always supported me, I have something to announce. In order to enrich my life further and to aim higher as an artist, I have decided to step away from the comfortable and blessed environment I have been in. My upcoming live tour in January will be my last under this agency. This is a significant turning point and a great challenge for me, but my goals remain the same. I will continue striving to be an artist that everyone can enjoy. I am still inexperienced, but I sincerely ask for your continued support in the future."
