X JAPAN’s YOSHIKI has donated $500,000 through his U.S.-based nonprofit organization, YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA, to support disaster relief efforts for areas affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. His contribution will be distributed among seven charity organizations, including the Recording Academy’s charitable foundation.

Having lived in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years, YOSHIKI shared his personal experience with the disaster, explaining that he canceled all appearances outside the U.S. to stay and support his community. “Seeing this city I’ve called home for decades continue to burn was heartbreaking. I was deeply affected and even diagnosed with depression after consulting a doctor. The sounds of sirens and helicopters echoed nonstop, and I had to evacuate as well. Fortunately, my home and studio were safe, but many of my friends lost everything,” he said.

YOSHIKI’s latest donation is part of his ongoing philanthropic efforts, as he has regularly contributed to disaster relief and humanitarian causes. Previously, he donated $100,000 to support musicians affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton, recognizing the financial and emotional toll such disasters take on artists. Through YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA, he has also provided aid for earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan, as well as funding for children’s medical institutions.

Reflecting on his long-held belief, YOSHIKI added, “Helping others is also helping yourself. I will continue to support those in need and hope this effort inspires others to do the same.”

Additionally, YOSHIKI announced a live broadcast on YOSHIKI CHANNEL on February 1 (JST) to update viewers worldwide on the situation and encourage further support.
