The upcoming anime film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO will open in Japanese theaters on January 15, 2027. A new teaser visual, trailer, and details about the cast, staff, characters and mobile suits have also been revealed.
The film serves as a prequel to 2024's Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM and is based on a story developed by Chiaki Morosawa, Shigeru Morita, and director Mitsuo Fukuda during the planning stages of the previous film.
Shinn Asuka, one of the main characters from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, will serve as the protagonist. The story follows Shinn as he struggles to find his path while the peacekeeping organization COMPASS is being established. When the Strike Freedom Gundam is stolen, Shinn and his allies are drawn into another conflict.
Kenichi Suzumura returns as Shinn, alongside Maaya Sakamoto as Lunamaria Hawke, and Houko Kuwashima as Agnes Giebenrath. Daisuke Ono joins the cast as Leonard Balway, making his animated debut.
The film will also feature returning mobile suits, including the Strike Freedom Gundam and Infinite Justice Gundam, as well as the new Gouf Ignited Custom. The latest trailer also shows Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala.
