It has been announced that Nogizaka46 captain Minami Umezawa will graduate from the group following all promotional activities for their 41st single, “Saigo ni Kaidan wo Kake Agatta no wa Itsuda?”, which is scheduled for release on April 8.

In a blog post addressing fans, Umezawa shared the news of her graduation, writing, “I’ll say it first — this will be long! It’s a self-indulgent entry, but please forgive me today.” She reflected on her journey, adding, “There were times when things were difficult and lonely, and I wanted to run away. But that was never an option. I feel that I can leave the Nogizaka I love now, while I still love it.”

February 22 marked the 14th anniversary of Nogizaka46’s debut single, “Guru Guru Curtain.” The group’s annual Birthday Live concert will be held over three days beginning May 19 at Tokyo Dome, with Umezawa’s graduation concert scheduled for the final day.

Umezawa joined Nogizaka46 as a third-generation member in 2016 at the age of 17 after passing the group’s audition. She has served as captain since February 22, 2023, when she succeeded former captain Manatsu Akimoto.
