Hikaru Utada's albums released under the name "Utada"—"Exodus" (2004) and "This Is the One" (2009)—will be remastered for the first time and released on June 24.
The albums will be available in multiple formats, including 180g LP, colored vinyl, SHM-CD, and digital. This also marks the first time Utada’s English-language works will be issued on vinyl. The SHM-CD edition will include a second disc featuring regional bonus tracks and remixes.
"Exodus," Utada’s U.S. debut album, includes "Easy Breezy" and "Devil Inside," the latter of which topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with its remix. The album features production by Timbaland and contribution from drummer Jon Theodore.
Utada's second U.S. album, "This Is the One," was produced by Stargate and Tricky Stewart, and includes tracks such as "Come Back to Me" and "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI." The album reached No. 69 on the Billboard 200, making Utada the first Japanese artist in 23 years to enter the chart’s Top 100 since Loudness.
The two albums, which marked a bold evolution in Utada's creative direction, have recently been gaining renewed recognition overseas.
