Actor Mackenyu Arata announced on October 31 that he has changed his stage name to Mackenyu Maeda.

The actor shared the news through his Instagram Stories, writing, "While cherishing the path I've taken so far, I want to continue taking on new challenges in my own way without forgetting where I started."

Born in the United States in 1996, Mackenyu began his acting career in the U.S. before pursuing opportunities in Japan in 2014. He received the Newcomer of the Year award at the 40th Japan Academy Film Prize for his role in the 2016 film Chihayafuru.

He previously changed his stage name from Mackenyu to Mackenyu Arata in May 2017.

Mackenyu is the son of the late actor Sonny Chiba and the older brother of actor Gordon Maeda.
