Nanako Matsushima has been confirmed to reprise her role as Azusa Fuyutsuki in the upcoming live-action adaptation of 'GTO,' starring Takashi Sorimachi.

Based on the manga by Tohru Fujisawa, the new series marks the first full 'GTO' drama in 28 years and follows former biker-turned-teacher Eikichi Onizuka as he tackles the challenges of a modern high school in Japan's Reiwa era.

Matsushima reprises the role she first played in the 1998 drama. A newly released visual shows Azusa in her flight attendant uniform, reflecting the career she achieved in the 2024 'GTO Revival' special. Her role in Onizuka's latest story has yet to be revealed, though it's reported that producers have teased a shocking development within the first four minutes of the premiere.

Matsushima reflected on the impact of 'GTO Revival,' saying, "I've heard from people who were the same age as the students back then that they watched it again with their own children. Others have told me the drama inspired them to become teachers or even to get married. It made me realize once again that 'GTO' is a work that has remained in people's memories over the years, bringing back different chapters of their lives." She added that viewers can look forward to seeing a more mature Onizuka while still retaining the qualities that made him memorable.

The new 'GTO' premieres on July 20.
