Masaki Suda has written a new song, titled "Kimi ga Warau Made," for the upcoming film Jinsei wo Kaeta Konto, scheduled to premiere in Japan on December 18.
The film is a live-action adaptation of a novel written by Seiya of comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo, based on his own experiences. Starring Naniwa Danshi's Kazuya Ohashi, the story follows a high school student named Ishikawa who struggles with bullying but gradually regains his confidence through comedy.
Suda was approached to create the theme song at Seiya's request, as the comedian is a longtime fan of Suda's song "Niji." To prepare, Suda read the original novel and attended Seiya's talk events.
The resulting song was created as a response to Ulfuls' "Waraereba," which had been a source of encouragement for Seiya during high school. Tortoise Matsumoto, the band's vocalist, also contributed guest backing vocals to the track.
Suda shared that he created the song out of gratitude and respect for Seiya, while Matsumoto expressed his excitement about participating in the collaboration.
