Actor Matsuyama Kenichi and Director SABU made a surprise appearance for �Usagi Drop�, which has been nominated in the competition category, at Shanghai International Film Festival.

When Matsuyama and Director SABU appeared at the stage greeting, the crowd broke into loud cheers. Matsushita�s popularity in China is mainly among women as tickets for �Usagi Drop� at the film festival completely sold out.

Matsuyama said, �It�s my first time in Shanghai. I am so happy to be warmly welcomed.� When asked what he thought about Shanghai, he answered, �I just arrived and haven�t eaten won ton ramen yet so I don�t really know, but I got to see the audience�s interest for the movie. This is a city full of energy.� Matsushita also said thank you in Shanghai, �sha ja�, which once again made the crowd break out into loud cheers.

�Usagi Drop� is a movie version of the comic by Unita Yumi. In the movie, Matsushita plays Daikichi, a 27-year old single man who ends up in a situation where he has to start living with the six year-old girl named Rin (Ashida Mana). Karina will play the single mother that Daikichi longs for.

The results of the competition category at the Shanghai International Film Festival will be announced at the closing ceremony on the 19th.

�Usagi Drop� will open in Japan on August 20.
