Yonezu Kenshi's song "Lemon" has won the Gold Award at this year's JASRAC Awards.
The annual award is presented by JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers) to owners of the works that received the largest amount of royalty distribution throughout the year. Past Gold Award recipients include Amuro Namie's "Hero," Hoshino Gen's "Koi," and Nakajima Miyuki's "Ito."
Written as the theme song for drama 'Unnatural,' "Lemon" was released digitally in February of 2018, and later in CD form in March. Although two years have passed since it was released, the song is still being widely used and have been covered numerous times. "Lemon" also topped the amount of royalties earned in the "interactive transmissions" and "karaoke" categories for the second consecutive year.
