It's been reported that Suchmos bassist HSU, also known as Kosugi Hayata, has passed away.
In spring of 2019, Suchmos's concert was postponed due to HSU's poor health condition. Later in June, he underwent surgery to remove a tumor. While considering HSU's health, the band continued their activities, and had successfully held a one-man live in September of 2019 at Yokohama Stadium, which had been their goal. Then in February of this year, Suchmos announced that they would be halting their activities temporarily. Although the band was on hiatus, HSU had been the support bassist for other artists, and even launched a solo project.
An announcement on the band's official website states, "The members and staff are confused, sad, and unable to accept the reality of the sudden news of his death."
Respecting the wishes of the bereaved family, HSU's funeral has already been held with relatives only. Our condolences to go out to his family and friends, as well as the members of Suchmos during this difficult time.
