On October 17, it was reported that actor Toshiyuki Nishida was found dead at his home in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo. He was 76 years old. The cause of his death is said to be illness related. 

Nishida was born in 1947 in Koriyama City of Fukushima Prefecture. After graduating middle school, he moved to Tokyo joining the Seinenza Theater Company in 1970. Starting with the 'Tsuribaka Nisshi' series, he has starred in numerous movies and dramas. He was also known for his work as a singer. Most notably his song "Moshimo Piano ga Hiketanara" became a hit landing him a spot in the 'Kohaku Uta Gassen.'
