He came from the famous Okinawa Actors School and debuted at the age of 10 in the group, Folder. Today, at the age of 23, Daichi Miura has released his tenth single, "Lullaby" which is labeled as his first ballad single.

Daichi is an R&B singer best known for his slick moves and smooth voice. This new single may sound like any other "Daichi" song to some, but that is left up to the listener. Although he didn't write the title track, Daichi did write the coupling song, "Drama" which is a total dance track. Those who are familiar with his work, will be happy with this single. The contrast between the two songs go well together and the "'Drama' Studio Dance Session" is also is a lovely bonus, especially for those who are fans of the singer and want to learn his dance moves.

We got a chance to pick at Daichi's brain for a bit about his newest single and if he has any plans for the New Year.

-�Your new single, �Lullaby� is said to be your first ballad (as a single), but when the PV was released, there were some people who didn�t feel that it was a ballad�
Daichi: Really? But I think when you see the dance and you hear the music, a person can see it is [a ballad]. But, I'm happy to feel that I was able to make a totally new song which is very 'Miura Daichi's own song.'

-� What do you think defines a song as being a �ballad�?
Daichi: Hmm... that's kind of hard. I don't think there's really a definition for it. But I think people that listen to music don't have one. I think everyone feels it on their own.

- What did you think when you first read the lyrics?
Daichi: It's a song that has the power to envelop. The lyrics have the power to fill up a people's hearts.



- Listening to the song, it does kind of remind me of winter, almost sentimental... was there a certain theme to the song?
Daichi: I don't think the song was made with an intent to make people feel a certain way. I think the writers created the song with winter in mind just like everyone else this season, and imagining what sorts of things people are thinking about in their everyday lives... so I think the song came about through a natural process.

- As the privilege of pre-ordering 'Lullaby', fans will get a special CD with a cover of Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas", can you tell us more about it?
Daichi: For me, I like to listen to Christmas songs, and I think everyone would want to hear one too. I also wanted to cover a female artist, so I chose this one.

- After your tour, the single will be released and it was announced that you have planned 4 more mini lives, this is a very busy month for you. Do you have any plans�for Christmas and New Years?
Daichi: Well I still have the Christmas live, I hope to make that one a great memory for everyone. I'm not sure about New Year's though. Actually, I think I'm done after that [Christmas live].

- Can you please give a message to TokyoHive readers?
Daichi: I think if you can see me live, it'll be easier for you to understand the imagery with the music. It would make me really happy if you guys can check out my dance performances too.

< About Daichi Miura >
Daichi Miura was born on August 24, 1987 in Okinawa, Japan. He attended Okinawa Actors School (home to artists Namie Amuro, MAX, SPEED, and OLIVIA). He debuted in 1997 as a singer and dancer in the group, FOLDER. He left the group three years later due to changes in his voice as he hit puberty. In 2004 he came back and announced he would come back as a solo artist and released his first solo single, "Keep It Goin' On" in March 2005. Daichi has released two studio albums and nine previous singles. He has done collaborations with COMA-CHI, KREVA, and Utamaru (from Rhymester).

He just finished his "GRAVITY" tour and will have four mini-lives to promote his new single. He is also participating in the "Tokyo Tower Birthday & X'mas LIVE 2010" at Tokyo Tower on December 23.
