Actor Abe Hiroshi will be on the cover of Stereopony's upcoming single, "Arigato", and will also star in the music video. This new single was chosen as the theme song for Abe's upcoming movie, 'Tengoku kara no Yell', which will hit theaters on October 1st.
This song was dedicated to Nakasone Hikaru, the real-life inspiration behind Abe's character in the film. "Tengoku kara no Yell" is based on the true story of Nakasone Hikaru, who founded a free music studio for young musicians in Okinawa called 'Ajisai Ongaku Mura'. Nakasone took out a loan to provide young high school students with the opportunity to play music and pursue their dreams in the basement of his bento shop. He produced many groups who made major debuts, including Stereopony; unfortunately, he passed away in November 2009 at the young age of 42 from kidney cancer.
Abe comments, "The studio 'Ajisai Ongaku Mura' that Nakasone-san left behind is still active and continues to engrave the importance of 'being thoughtful of others' and 'having courtesy for one another'. It's wonderful! Never give up on your dream. I hope that I can provide some sort of courage and strength through the story of a man who never stopped until he was done".
Stereopony's "Arigato" will be released on September 28th. Version A of the first day limited edition will come with a special music video that uses clips from the actual movie. Version B will feature Abe on the cover jacket.
