Inoue Mao to star as tax collector in new drama 'Tokkan'
Actress Inoue Mao will be starring in NTV's upcoming drama series, 'Tokkan Tokubetsu Kokuzei Choushukan', starting in July.
In the drama, Inoue will play the role of a tax collector who deals with the most malicious cases. This will be her first drama series in about a year and three months, with her last being NHK's morning drama, 'Ohisama'.
The drama will be based on Takadono Madoka's novel of the same title, which is currently being serialized in the monthly magazine, 'Mystery Magazine'. It's also received a manga-adaptation in women's magazine, 'YOU'.
'Tokkan' tells a story of Suzumiya Miki (Inoue), a newbie tax collector who learns the strictness and difficulties of working through her job. Miki is called 'Guuko' because she often freezes up in front of her cold-hearted boss.
The drama will be directed by Mizuta Nobuo, who's known for his works in 'Maiko haaaan!!!' and 'Naku Monka'. Inoue also stars in his upcoming film, 'Tsuna Hiichatta!', which is due out sometime in the fall of this year. She commented, "It's reassuring to be able to team up with director Mizuta, whom I've just worked with for a movie. I believe it will become a drama with more power."
Inoue also expressed, "I'm excited to step foot into the unknown world of the taxation bureau."
