The top star of Takarazuka Revue's Flower Troupe, Ranju Tomu to leave the revue next year

It was announced that Ranju Tomu, the top star of Flower Troupe in the all-female musical theater troupe, Takarazuka Revue, will be leaving the troupe in May of 2014. On October 8th, she held a press conference in Osaka to address her leave.



"I'm full of gratitude that I have been supported and cheered by many people over the past 18 years. I would like to accomplish as 'Otokoyaku (= male role), Ranju Tomu', and to show the great performance until the end as a part of the Flower Troupe," Ranju said at the conference.


Ranju enrolled at the Takarazuka Music School in 1994 after passing the most competitive examination for the revue. She then made her stage debut in 1996. 
Ranju was first assigned to the Flower Troupe, and after Ranju transferred into the Cosmos Troupe, she has returned to the Flower Troupe as the top star since in April of 2011.


According to Ranju, she decided to leave the revue after her performance in the musical "Ocean's 11." She revealed, "There was a moment that I was able to relax and enjoy being Otokoyaku, and it made me feel that 'Ah! It's time!' I have no regrets."


Ranju's last stage will be "Last Tycoon -Hollywood no Teiou, Fumetsu no Ai- / TAKARAZUKA ? Mugen" which will open at Takarazuka Grand Theater during February 7th ~ March 17th, and at Tokyo Takarazuka Theater during April 10th ~ May 11th.
