TH STAFF

It's been reported that scriptwriter Hashida Sugako (actual name: Ishisaki Sugako) passed away on April 4th at 9:13 am due to acute lymphoma. She was 95 years old.

Hashida was hospitalized in Tokyo in late-February to devote herself to treatment. She was then transferred to a hospital in Atami in mid-March. She returned to her home in Atami on April 3rd and took her last breath on the 4th. By the will of the deceased, there was no wake nor funeral held, but her body was cremated on the 5th. There are no plans for a memorial service either.

Born in Seoul, Hashida joined Shochiku after completing her studies. She became a freelance scriptwriter in 1959 and is known for writing the script for 'Oshin,' Wataru Seken wa Onibakari,' 'Kasuga no Tsubone,' and 'Onna Taikoki.' She married TBS producer Iwasaki Yoshikazu in 1966 and established the Hashida Cultural Foundation in 1992.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends during this time.
