It's been announced that Kitayama Hiromitsu will be graduating from Kis-My-Ft2 and leaving Johnny & Associates on August 31.
On Johnny & Associates' official website, Kitayama explained, "After 21 years in showbiz and as the world swiftly changes around me, I wanted to challenge myself to more things and start the second chapter of my life." While he hasn't revealed what he will be doing afterwards, he expressed, "To the members who let me dream, to Johnny & Associates who gave me their support many times, and to everyone I have met along the way, I am grateful from the bottom of my heart. From now on, I will do my best so that I can send smiles to as many people as possible."
Meanwhile, the remaining six members commented, "Kitayama talked to us last fall about his intent to graduate from the group. We felt that we still had a long way to go as a group, so we couldn't accept it right away. After the members discussed it numerous times, his strong intent did not change. We respected and eventually accepted his strong decision to challenge himself and start his second chapter." They also revealed that they will be releasing a new song titled "Tomoni," which will be the last work as a seven-member group, this summer.
Kitayama joined Johnny & Associates in 2002, then made his CD debut as a part of Kis-My-Ft2 in August of 2011. In 2021, the group held an arena and dome tour called 'Kis-My-Ft ni Aeru de Show 2022' to commemorate their tenth anniversary. Last month, Kitayama starred in the stage plays 'Endless SHOCK' and 'Endless SHOCK -Eternal-' produced and staged by Domoto Koichi (KinKi Kids).
