Sam Smith has released a new version of his hit single "Stay With Me," featuring Japanese star Hikaru Utada. The updated track, titled "Stay With Me feat. Hikaru Utada," dropped today.
This collaboration celebrates the 10th anniversary of Smith's debut album In The Lonely Hour, which originally featured grammy-award winning track "Stay With Me." Smith expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “I have a deep connection to this song. It was a great joy to see it succeed in Japan. I love performing there, and I’m proud to have one of Japan’s most successful artists join me on this new version of the track.”
Utada shared her own enthusiasm, saying, “It’s an honor to be involved in the anniversary of 'Stay With Me.' The song has touched many hearts with its vulnerability and longing. Singing alongside Sam Smith’s original vocals and having the recording engineer capture this moment was an indescribable experience. It felt as if a wormhole opened, briefly connecting us across time and space.”
