Fuji TV has announced the cancellation of its "FNS Kayousai Haru" (FNS Music Festival Spring), originally set for April 9, 2025. This decision comes after a significant decline in revenue linked to the ongoing controversy surrounding Masahiro Nakai. With a drop in advertising income, Fuji TV has stated that it currently lacks the financial capacity to produce the event.
The cancellation impacts the "Aoharu (Youth) Week," a series of music specials planned for this spring, with "FNS Kayousai Haru" being the highlight. The spring edition of the show, which has been aired sporadically since 2016, was expected to make a return this year after last airing in 2022. Despite a relatively low production cost for the spring show, sources suggest that issues with sponsorship support may have also contributed to the decision.
This cancellation is seen as a loss for the music industry, which has relied on the "FNS Kayousai" series to showcase new talent. With advertising revenue significantly down, questions remain about the future of the summer edition of the program, which is scheduled for July. Industry insiders are hopeful that the show can proceed with a refreshed management team.
Fuji TV has not provided further details about the program's future, stating that they are not ready to comment on any upcoming changes.
