
It's been reported that actress Tamao Nakamura passed away from pneumonia on June 9. She was 86 years old.
In a statement, her agency expressed gratitude for the support she received throughout her life and career.
Born in Kyoto on July 12, 1939, Nakamura made her screen debut in 1953 with 'Keiko to Yukie.' She later signed with Daiei and went on to appear in numerous films and tv productions.
She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 11th Blue Ribbon Awards for her performances in 'Bonchi' and 'Daibosatsu Toge.'
In addition to her acting career, Nakamura was a familiar face on variety programs, including 'Sanma no Super Karakuri TV.'
Her notable credits include the 'Inochi no Genba Kara' and 'Obahan Deka!' drama series, the NHK morning dramas 'Suzuran' and 'Beppinsan,' the NHK historical drama 'Musashi,' and the films 'Nintama Rantaro' and 'Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura.'
Nakamura was the daughter of kabuki actor Nakamura Ganjiro II and the sister of Sakata Tojuro IV. She married actor Shintaro Katsu in 1962.
