Nissan and Honda partner to develop next-generation vehicle technology

TH STAFF

Nissan and Honda have signed a joint development agreement to standardize key electronic systems and software for their next-generation software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop common specifications for multiple electronic control units (ECUs), as well as the in-vehicle operating system and key parts of the middleware and vehicle control software.

The jointly developed technology is planned for use in next-generation vehicles from both Nissan and Honda beginning in fiscal 2029 or later.

By standardizing these core systems, the companies aim to combine their technology and development resources, speed up development and reduce costs, while improving efficiency and competitiveness.

The agreement is part of a broader partnership between Nissan and Honda focused on electrification and software development.
