Ringo Sheena’s song "Ariamaru Tomi" has been selected as the theme song for the upcoming film 'Magical Secret Tour,' set for release on June 19.
Starring Kasumi Arimura, 'Magical Secret Tour' is an original story inspired by a real-life gold smuggling incident that took place in 2017. The film follows three women facing personal hardships—a housewife burdened with debt due to her husband’s embezzlement, a researcher struggling to repay student loans, and an unmarried pregnant woman—who form a bond through their involvement in gold smuggling. The film is directed by Chihiro Amano, who won Best Screenplay at the Japan Movie Critics Awards for 'Mrs. Noisy.'
Originally released in 2009, "Ariamaru Tomi" remains a beloved track that continues to be covered by numerous artists. Arimura commented, "Ringo Sheenas-san’s song embraces the entire film with a gentle yet precise perspective." Director Amano added, "For the women who smuggle gold—and for each of us, and even for the world—what does 'wealth' truly mean? What does it mean to feel fulfilled by wealth? I feel that Ringo-san’s piercing question resonates strongly with the film’s ending."
A trailer for the film featuring "Ariamaru Tomi" has been released on YouTube. The song resonates powerfully as it gently envelops the women’s journey in pursuit of gold, while prompting reflection on the meaning of wealth.
