AKB48 has sparked curiosity among fans after sharing a mysterious photo on their official social media accounts accompanied by the message, "20 Years Since Then."
The photo features a person wearing a school uniform while pushing an orange bicycle, seemingly referencing the group's major debut single, "Aitakatta," released on October 25, 2006.
The uniform closely resembles the outfits worn in the original music video, featuring a blue and green plaid skirt and a matching tie with yellow accents. The orange bicycle also appears similar to the one ridden by former member Atsuko Maeda in the music video.
AKB48, which formed in December 2005, will soon celebrate the 20th anniversary of their major-label debut.
Earlier this year, the group revisited "Aitakatta" for the first time with a new version titled "Aitakatta 2026," included as a coupling track on their 68th single, "Suki ish," released back in August. Airi Sato served as the center for the updated version.
While AKB48 has yet to reveal the meaning behind the teaser, the post has raised anticipation for a possible announcement ahead of the anniversary date.
