Actor Kenta Kiritani surprised his fellow TV personalities when he jokingly revealed that he has "three wives" during the October 13 broadcast of TBS's Feeling Kitchen, hosted by Karen Takizawa and Asuka Wada.
Kiritani recalled visiting Guinea-Bissau in Africa while filming the travel program Sekai Ururun Taizaiki. According to the actor, he was unaware of a local marriage custom in which women propose to men and proposals are not supposed to be refused.
During his visit, Kiritani joined local residents in an impromptu dance party. He later learned that two women, Elizabeth and Joanna, had developed feelings for him and considered him their husband.
"I was told afterward that they had fallen in love with me," he recalled, adding that Elizabeth appeared particularly serious about her feelings.
Kiritani also shared that he had written a letter to the women after returning to Japan, although he joked that much of his message was probably lost through multiple translations.
Kiritani married a non-celebrity woman in April 2014, and the couple has two children.
