On August 2, actress Nikaido Fumi took to Instagram stories to speak her mind about fake news concerning her relationship with Iwata Takanori. 

The previous day, some media outlets reported that Nikaido and Iwata have become intimate while co-starring in the drama 'Promise Cinderella.' The article also mentioned that Nikaido strongly pushed on working together with Iwata for the drama.

While Nikaido didn't mention the specific article, she commented, "It happens quite often, and I shouldn't let it bother me, but to be honest, it's very hard. When things I don't remember or completely false information end up becoming articles. Also when I receive offensive messages from people who believe in those things. The world is full of information. There may be times when I receive the wrong information. It's really difficult to figure out what's real and what's fake." 

She then sent a message out to reporters, "Instead of writing articles with incorrect information that doesn't make anybody happy, could you please deliver content that will make those who see them happy or forward-looking?" She added, "I hope to spread positive motivation together rather than negative."

She also said to her fans, "By raising this issue, I'm afraid of reporters getting criticized or someone getting hurt. By no means am I wishing those things. I wrote this because I wanted them to know that there was an error in the article content, that there is a filter between the press and those who receive that information, and how sad I become every time there is fake news. Also by sharing it, I hope you will be able to think about it with me." 

At the end of her stories, she sent out her well wishes to her 'Promise Cinderella' co-star Matsui Rena who was recently diagnosed with COVID-19.
