AKB48 will release the music video for "Aitakatta 2026" on YouTube on October 25 at 12:00 p.m. JST, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the group's major-label debut.
Originally released on October 25, 2006, "Aitakatta" was revived as a coupling track on AKB48's 68th single, "Suki ish," released in August. The updated version features a new arrangement with live instrumentation and is performed by 16 younger members, with Airi Sato serving as the center.
The music video was filmed at Sunosaki Lighthouse in Chiba Prefecture, the same location as the original video. Members wear the same style of school uniforms, while several scenes pay tribute to the 2006 video, including bicycle rides, school bus scenes, and performances in front of the lighthouse.
Sato also recreates a memorable scene originally featuring Atsuko Maeda gazing out at the ocean, replacing Maeda's wired earphones with wireless ones to reflect the passage of 20 years.
Ahead of the announcement, AKB48 teased the video on social media with the message "20 Years Since Then," alongside a photo of Sato dressed in the original-style uniform and pushing an orange bicycle.
Member Eriko Hashimoto revealed that the video also includes references to other AKB48 songs.
